Read chapters 5-6 in Parker Palmer's book To Know As We Are Known. Then send me an email with the answers to the following questions:
1. As you think about your own experience as a student or as a teacher, what does the best "learning space" look like? What went into creating that space?
2. Describe a teaching situation in which you might adapt the Quaker idea of a clearness committee. Use your imagination. Visualize such an encounter. What are you teaching? What kinds of questions are you asking? (I know that this is a little difficult for some people. That is okay. Just try and make up a dialog in your mind.)
3. What have you learned in this class so far this semester? What could we do to make this an even better learning experience for you? (Don't worry, you will not offend me.) Be prepared to discuss your answers in an upcoming online video chat.
